Ryan Harrington | 3-Star QB | Anacortes, WA | Washington State Commit
Tucked into the far northwest corner of Washington state, just a short drive from the Canadian border, the small town of Anacortes isn't exactly a hotbed on the national recruiting map. But Ryan Harrington is working to change that perception.
The three-star quarterback had a breakout junior season at Anacortes High School, throwing for 3,372 yards and 30 touchdowns while guiding his team to a 10-3 record. For Harrington, the numbers reflect something deeper than individual production — he views leadership as the defining quality of any successful quarterback. "It starts and ends with the QB," he said, emphasizing his desire to elevate the players around him and create opportunities for his teammates.
Playing in a remote part of the state hasn't limited his recruiting exposure. Cincinnati, Wyoming, Fresno State, and Colorado State all extended offers, a testament to the film he put together in a region Harrington believes is consistently underestimated. "Washington is overlooked," he said, "but it's good to get out here and showcase what the state has to offer."
In the end, Harrington opted to stay close to home, verbally committing to the Washington State Cougars — choosing a program where he could evaluate the environment and know exactly what he was stepping into before arriving on campus.
