Ja'Hyde Brown | Rising Star WR Commits to Hometown Louisville Cardinals

November 2, 2026
Ja'Hyde Brown put up 98 catches, 1,556 yards & 24 TDs at Christian Academy of Louisville before committing to the Cardinals over Alabama and Oklahoma.

Louisville, Kentucky has produced its share of overlooked talent, and Ja'Hyde Brown fits that mold precisely. At five-foot-ten and without a five-star rating to his name, Brown has spent his high school career answering doubters with production — and the numbers are hard to argue with.

In his junior season at Christian Academy of Louisville, Brown hauled in 98 catches for 1,556 yards and 24 touchdowns, earning 3-A Player of the Year honors in the state of Kentucky. That performance came on the back of a 15-0 season in which CAL captured its fourth consecutive state championship. Brown's sights are now set on a fifth straight title — "state or bust," in his own words.

His reputation extended well beyond Kentucky last summer, when Brown won Offensive MVP at The Opening's Dallas Regional, making catch after catch against some of the top defensive talent in the country. The performance drew scholarship offers from Indiana, Alabama, and Oklahoma, among others.

Despite the high-profile interest, Brown chose to stay home and sign with the Louisville Cardinals. For him, the decision carries meaning beyond football — a chance to prove that Louisville belongs on the national stage and to give younger athletes in the city a blueprint for staying close to home and competing at the highest level. "Louisville gets disrespected," he said. "We play football too."
