Jameson Purcell | Maine South QB Commits to Indiana Hoosiers
Park Ridge, Illinois has produced its share of football talent, and Maine South High School senior Jameson Purcell is the latest Hawks quarterback making noise on a national stage. Last season as a junior, the left-handed signal-caller threw for 2,871 yards and 28 touchdowns, leading Maine South to a 10-2 record and a state quarterfinal appearance.
Known to teammates as J.Mo, Purcell has sought out elite competition and mentorship at every turn. He has worked out alongside NFL and college standouts including Joe Burrow, Jaxson Dart, and Bryce Young, and earned a spot at the prestigious Elite 11 quarterback competition. His approach is deliberate — absorbing what he can from each quarterback he encounters and applying it to his own game.
Purcell committed to the Indiana Hoosiers in July 2025, a decision that carried extra meaning for his family. Both of his parents are IU alumni, and cousins and extended family share the same connection to Bloomington. Still, Purcell says the family ties were secondary — it was his relationship with the coaching staff, particularly head coach Curt Cignetti, that sealed it. He describes Cignetti as a genuine presence who invests in his players for the long haul, a quality Purcell values as he prepares to compete at the next level.
