Kavian Bryant: Palestine, TX QB Commits to Texas Tech | Class of 2027
Palestine, Texas has a short list of football legends, and Adrian Peterson's name sits at the top. But the East Texas town, located about two hours southeast of Dallas, may be developing its next elite prospect in Westwood High School quarterback Kavian Bryant.
Ranked among the top ten quarterbacks in the 2027 recruiting class, Bryant put together a standout junior season — throwing for 3,407 yards and 37 touchdowns while adding 740 rushing yards and seven more scores on the ground. That production, combined with a summer selection to the prestigious Elite 11 quarterback program, has cemented his status as one of the most coveted signal-callers in the country.
Bryant is also a decorated multi-sport athlete. On the basketball court, he averaged 26 points per game and helped lead Westwood to the state championship game. He credits the crossover between sports for sharpening his overall game — and he's had a built-in coach along the way. His father, Kadrian, serves as Westwood's head basketball coach, a relationship Bryant describes as foundational to his development.
With football now the clear priority, Bryant has committed to Texas Tech in Lubbock. He's drawn to the coaching staff and the program's culture, and he's confident the Red Raiders are trending toward something bigger. "The next three years, you'll see Tech in a national title," Bryant said. As for his own approach to the game, he keeps it straightforward: "I'm a winner. Not best. But I win, whatever I gotta do to win."
