Kamarui Dorsey | 5-Star WR/DB | Hampton High School | Texas A&M Commit | Class of 2027
About an hour south of Atlanta, the small town of Hampton, Georgia is better known for Echo Park Speedway than for producing Power Four football recruits. Kamarui Dorsey is changing that.
The 6-foot-3, 200-pound two-way standout at Hampton High School has earned a 5-star rating in the Class of 2027 and a commitment to Texas A&M — a path that was far from guaranteed after he suffered a hip injury at age 12 during a youth football game. The injury forced him to sit out, rebuild his confidence, and rethink his relationship with the sport. He channeled his recovery into track, developed his speed, and returned to the field with a work ethic that earned him a starting spot as a freshman at Hampton.
On offense, Dorsey operates as a deep threat with the ability to get in and out of breaks quickly. On defense, he's a vocal, ball-hawking presence at cornerback — a rare combination at his size. When asked which version of himself would win in a one-on-one matchup, he didn't hesitate: the DB. His coach describes him simply as an iron man who wants to be on the field and will do whatever it takes to win.
What sets Dorsey apart from many elite recruits is where he chose to stay. Despite his rising profile, he never transferred out of the community where he grew up. His coach notes that loyalty isn't something you hear much about anymore — but for Dorsey, it's a defining trait. He's on track to be the first Hampton Hornet to sign with a Power Four program, a distinction that carries real weight in a school of roughly 1,100 students.
Texas A&M's willingness to let him play both ways was a major factor in his commitment to College Station, along with what he describes as a family-oriented culture within the program. His long-term goal is straightforward: reach the NFL and become the first player from Hampton High to do it. As he put it, a small dream won't push you hard enough — so he's set the biggest one he can imagine.
