Trey Rangel throws a fastball in the mid-90s, a deceptive changeup, and a curveball that buckles knees. The combination has made him one of the nation's top high school pitching prospects, committed to Texas.
Rangel is the son of Rudy Rangel, the football coach at The Colony High School near Dallas. Trey played football early before recognizing that his future was on the mound. The decision came around age 13, when his arm started separating him from peers. Now he's draft-eligible with a college backup plan that most pitchers would envy.
