J'Zavien Currence overcame childhood fears of the game to become a versatile standout at South Pointe, now headed to South Carolina.
At four years old, J'Zavien Currence was terrified of the football field—too small, facing kids too big. Now he's a senior at South Pointe High School in Rock Hill, South Carolina, playing both wide receiver and defensive back with the confidence of a player who's been doing this his whole life.
His father Jay coaches at South Pointe, and that family foundation helped transform early fear into fuel. Currence has committed to the South Carolina Gamecocks, continuing a football journey that started in a town known for producing talent.
