Charlie Cooper: From Dreams to Paralympic Aspirations

November 15, 2025
Charlie Cooper, born with spina bifida, is a U.S. Open Junior Wheelchair Tennis champion with his sights set on the 2028 Paralympics.

Charlie Cooper was born with spina bifida. Traditional team sports weren't an option. Then a chance encounter at a guitar shop introduced him to tennis—and everything changed.

Under Coach Dwayne Begay's guidance, Cooper became a U.S. Open Junior Wheelchair Tennis champion and excelled at international competitions. The 2028 Paralympics in Los Angeles are his next target.

Beyond his own achievements, Cooper wants to inspire children with disabilities to chase their athletic dreams.
