Champ Bailey, Hall of Fame Cornerback - Journey to Greatness

September 30, 2019
Pro Football Hall of Famer Champ Bailey discusses his journey from small-town Georgia to NFL greatness.

Champ Bailey rose from the small town of Folkston, Georgia, to become one of the greatest cornerbacks in NFL history. Growing up in a community of just 2,000 residents, Bailey recognized that sports offered his path to a better future, drawing inspiration from his brother and others who had succeeded.

After starring at Charlton County High School, Bailey earned consensus All-American honors during his junior season at the University of Georgia in 1998. Washington selected him seventh overall in the 1999 NFL Draft, launching a 15-season career that included the most Pro Bowl selections of any defensive back in history. Bailey's induction into the Pro Football Hall of Fame cemented his legacy.
