Let's Go Places on the Recruiting Trail: David McCormack, Oak Hill
July 21, 2018
David McCormack developed into an All-American big man at Oak Hill Academy. The five-star center shed 50 pounds while refining his game before committing to Kansas.
Oak Hill Academy in rural Virginia has produced NBA stars including Carmelo Anthony, Jerry Stackhouse, and Brandon Jennings. David McCormack arrived seeking that same development path.
The 6-foot-10 forward underwent a remarkable transformation over two years, losing 50 pounds while adding mobility and expanding his offensive repertoire. That improved athleticism allowed McCormack to dominate the post while developing skills that translate to the next level. His commitment to Kansas continues Oak Hill's connection to elite programs, where coach Bill Self's track record of developing big men made the Jayhawks an ideal fit for McCormack's NBA aspirations.
