Question of the Day: Football Hall of Famers in Lacrosse

March 14, 2021
Jim Brown was a first-team All-American in both football and lacrosse at Syracuse—the only player to achieve that distinction.

Jim Brown earned first-team All-American honors in both football and lacrosse during his senior year at Syracuse. He remains the only athlete in college sports history to accomplish that feat in the same season.

Brown's lacrosse credentials often get overshadowed by his football legacy. His college coach, Roy Simmons Sr., called him the greatest lacrosse player he ever coached. Brown was later inducted into the National Lacrosse Hall of Fame—a reminder that his athletic gifts extended well beyond the gridiron that made him famous.
