Question of the Day: 2001 Miami Hurricanes
January 18, 2019
The 2001 Miami Hurricanes produced an extraordinary number of NFL players, including Ed Reed, Frank Gore, and the late Sean Taylor.
Thirty-eight players from the 2001 Miami Hurricanes heard their names called in NFL drafts. Ed Reed, Frank Gore, Sean Taylor, Vernon Carey Sr., and dozens more went from winning a national championship in Miami to building professional careers.
Vernon Carey Jr. carries that legacy forward. His father played on that loaded roster, and now the younger Carey is building his own recruiting profile as one of the nation's top basketball prospects. The Hurricanes football program set a standard that still echoes through South Florida sports.
