Let's Go Places on the Recruiting Trail: Darius Perry, Wheeler G
July 21, 2018
Darius Perry stepped up as Wheeler's primary scorer after Jalen Brown left for the NBA Draft.
Wheeler High School near Atlanta has produced NBA talent like Shareef Abdur-Rahim and Jaylen Brown. When Brown left for the 2016 NBA Draft lottery, Darius Perry shouldered the scoring load. The 6-foot-2 guard contributed not just points but also assists, rebounds, and steals.
Perry's defensive mindset—his belief that defense creates offense—helped Wheeler maintain its status as a Georgia powerhouse. He signed with Louisville, bringing his well-rounded game and competitive fire to the ACC.
