Updating a story we previously ran, Lauren Cox, the top girls player in the 2016 class is committed to Baylor. The star at Flower Mound High School has elevated the Lady Jaguars program to new heights.
Lauren Cox, a 6-foot-4-inch forward hailing from Flower Mound High School in Texas, has risen to stardom as a basketball prodigy and one of the most sought-after recruits in the nation. Identified by Coach Sharicka Nelson in eighth grade, Lauren's remarkable talent was apparent from the start. As the central force of the Lady Jaguar offense, she impressively averages 19 points, 14 rebounds, and six blocks per game as a sophomore, despite constant double-teams. Standing tall on both ends of the court, Lauren is a true game-changer.
However, Lauren's journey has not been without hurdles. Diagnosed with type 1 diabetes at a tender age of seven, she has had to diligently monitor her health while excelling in basketball. With up to 12 blood sugar tests a day and insulin shots to manage her condition, Lauren's determination shines through as she continues to elevate her game. Her incredible skills even earned her a spot on the USA Basketball team, capturing the attention of none other than LeBron James. With the incredible feat of accumulating over 30 scholarship offers, Lauren Cox's story is one of remarkable resilience and undeterred success.
