Iowa State Commit Tyrese Hunter is a Playmaker for Racine St. Cat's
January 29, 2021
Tyrese Hunter was a first-team all-state selection at St. Catherine's in Wisconsin before committing to Iowa State.
Tyrese Hunter averaged 21 points, 7 rebounds, 3 steals, and 3.5 assists per game as a junior at St. Catherine's High School in Racine, Wisconsin. Those numbers earned him first-team all-state honors and a national top-50 ranking.
Hunter's undefeated season ended one win short of the state tournament when COVID-19 shut everything down. He committed to Iowa State, where his attacking style and defensive intensity fit the Big 12. At 6-foot-1, he plays bigger than his size—going at taller defenders rather than around them.
