July 21, 2018
Ariel Atkins led Duncanville's Pantherettes to a 134-game winning streak while pursuing a third consecutive state title.
The Duncanville High School Pantherettes maintained their status as one of the nation's elite girls basketball programs under Coach Kathy Self-Morgan, who continued the legacy established by Sandra Meadows. The 5-foot-11 guard Ariel Atkins emerged as the team's driving force during an extraordinary 134-game winning streak.
Atkins combined exceptional defensive skills with scoring ability, establishing herself as one of the top players in the 2014 class. A straight-A student and active in her church, Atkins committed to the University of Texas with aspirations of following in the footsteps of WNBA legend Tamika Catchings. Her work ethic defined her approach, consistently being first in the gym and last to leave.
