Question of the Day: Texas Longhorns to win Player of the Year
January 18, 2019
Kevin Durant and T.J. Ford are the only Texas Longhorns men's basketball players to win National Player of the Year honors.
Texas has retired only two men's basketball jerseys: Kevin Durant's and T.J. Ford's. Both won National Player of the Year while wearing burnt orange, and both went on to successful NBA careers.
Ford earned his honor in 2003, leading the Longhorns with his elite court vision and playmaking ability. Durant followed in 2007, scoring at a level Texas basketball hadn't seen before. Together, they represent the highest individual peaks in program history.
