Question of the Day: First-Year Starters and Super Bowl Winners
January 1, 2021
Tom Brady is the only quarterback besides Kurt Warner to win a Super Bowl in his first year as a starter.
Kurt Warner won Super Bowl XXXIV in his first season as an NFL starter with the St. Louis Rams. Only one other quarterback has matched that feat: Tom Brady, who defeated Warner's Rams in Super Bowl XXXVI during his first year running the New England offense.
The irony of Brady accomplishing this against Warner makes the trivia even more compelling. Both quarterbacks went on to Hall of Fame careers, but their paths crossed at a pivotal moment that highlighted how rare it is to win a championship so early in a starting career.
